If true, a junker Valiant for parts might be worth considering or maybe you can find someone parting out a Valiant. You might also try here. These wafer switch problems are common and threads about them come up all the time.

That's a little different then "My band switch is gone". Buy the entire band switch if Gary still has it. At least you'll have some future spare repair parts.
