Title: AM over the Pond - Italy!
Post by: IX1CKN on March 08, 2015, 09:38:00 PM
Hi everyone,

at 23.57 UTC, one of the AM stations on 3873 kHz made it (and well, I've to say) over the Pond, to my QTH in Aosta, Italy (loc. JN35pr).

Hear a short recording here:

I'm pretty sure someone here will be able to help me in identifying the guy. Guess he'd love to know!

Vy 73 and tnx,

Oh, that's an easy one to ID.    Bob (Robert) K1KBW.  He 'owns" 3873kc!  :)

Check out his biography on QRZ with links to his webpages.  He has some impressive Class E PWM home  brew radios.

p.s. As I post this three hours after your query, he is still holding the frequency.

Thanks a lot!

I was impressed by the signal. I'm not in a spot with a good window on the US, and it looked to me a bit early to have US blasting.

Will send Bob the file. Hope he'll appreciate. I loved to hear some good ole AM!

Propagation was Excellent tonight here in the Eastern US.  Bob was booming in and sounded like he was in the same room.  Very deep bass, and excellent audio quality.
