Title: KC2IFR Post by: N1BCG on January 31, 2015, 09:34:02 PM Is it true? Is Bill an SK? This is very disturbing news to have just heard.
Title: Re: KC2IFR Post by: steve_qix on January 31, 2015, 11:02:40 PM Yes it is true. This afternoon. Don't have the details. Bill was in somewhat failing health (heart problems among others).
Title: Re: KC2IFR Post by: WBear2GCR on January 31, 2015, 11:34:11 PM While not first hand, from reliable sources, it is confirmed that Bill, KC2IFR indeed is SK. Quite a colorful character on the air, he was. _-_- Title: Re: KC2IFR Post by: Ed KB1HVS on February 01, 2015, 03:27:44 AM :'( I liked Bill. Rest In Peace....

He certainly was an interesting person. I'm sad to hear of his passing. I trust he is at rest now Al Title: Re: KC2IFR Post by: W1VD on February 01, 2015, 05:53:37 PM Interesting times when Jamie was a house guest ... finishing Bill's 'big rig'.

Always had a good signal, and a interesting viewpoints. Enjoyed his stories of his work at a NYC recording studio. One time he bootleg copied the Beatles Rubber Soul (?) from the master tapes. Rest well and at peace. Dan Title: Re: KC2IFR Post by: k2hat on February 02, 2015, 09:14:49 AM My Condolences. I was told that Services will be Private. William G. R.I.P. Bill. :'( Title: Re: KC2IFR Post by: K1ETP on February 02, 2015, 04:04:21 PM Bill had a host of serious health issues. He would often joke "If I knew I'd live this long I would have taken better care of myself."
RIP, Bill Rich K1ETP Title: Re: KC2IFR Post by: N1BCG on February 02, 2015, 04:19:29 PM Bill certainly didn't hold back when he had something to say and there's no shortage of recordings of his most colorful opinions. However, I feel fortunate to have been listening last September 21 when Brent W1IA moved the unmovable object and stopped the unstoppable object by helping to end a long time rift between Bill and his friend Bob. The attached MP3 adds a missing color to the picture... Title: Re: KC2IFR, RIP Post by: W1RC on February 04, 2015, 04:54:50 AM Back in 2007 when we were putting together the first NEAR-Fest Bill contacted me and offered to put up the up front money to get the thing off to a good start. I thanked him and told him that we would be okay with selling advance tickets. I don't know if he could have actually followed up and come through with the financing but I will always remember his kind offer to help.
I will miss him. 73, MrMike, W1RC Title: Re: KC2IFR Post by: k3msb on February 04, 2015, 08:12:52 AM Was Bill a pilot?
I know we were in aviation related threads on this forum a number of times, but I never go around to asking him. I wondered about the "IFR" in his call sign. Title: Re: KC2IFR Post by: N2DTS on February 04, 2015, 08:25:06 AM Thanks for the recording.
I looked through my log book/scratch pads and did not find his call. Not sure we ever worked. 35 or 40 years on the air and you would think I would have worked everyone at some point. If it's size I can adjust the compression so it would fit here w/o appreciable degradation Thanks, Al Title: Re: KC2IFR Post by: ka1shu. on February 22, 2015, 03:08:39 AM God Bless AMfone - Dedicated to Amplitude Modulation on the Amateur Radio Bands
