Title: Valiant 866 Sockets
Post by: W7SOE on January 31, 2015, 01:17:57 PM
I am replacing the 866 sockets in my valiant. I bought a pair off of eBay they fit okay but tubes can be inserted in any orientation and they seem to be pretty low quality.
I think I need to find sockets that will locate the tubes correctly, as I'm going to replace them with solid-state rectifiers and if they are inserted in a different positions then the socket pins that I've used for other purposes now short etc.

In any case does anyone know of a source for 866 sockets that will fit in the valiant chassis that have the large and small pinholes?

Thanks
Rich

   Hey Rich,

I replaced the sockets in a 30L-1 with these. The cheap ones were
OK, didn't need the gold jobs...

E-mail me a photo and I will send you a pair of US made NOS if I have the right ones.

Thank you both,
That looks like a good source.
I appreciate to offer for the sockets but I have already hogged out the holes for the newer style.......

Thanks again
