Title: K3 scans continued last set showing similar to Sherwood 100 watt rating
Post by: W3RSW on January 17, 2015, 11:09:12 AM
100 watts Direct to 50 ohms
110 watts,Direct to 50 ohms: last setting available on K3;  Elecraft advises not to go over 100 in their instruction book.

pix 3.
what non-essential coax, switches, linear amplifer T/R relays, pin diodes, and who knows will do to a spec. scan.
Note the oscillations from bad to worse in the waterfall freq. amplitudes (right to left).  I can post a pix of the minimum artifacts spectral scan about 1/2 second earlier or later if anyone wants it.

Makes me wonder what lash up some K3 scanners have used.
I'm aware of course of what the ARRL procedures are for IM products testing.
Very professional compared to my relative readings but the ones shown here are pretty instructive nonetheless.

Yikes! Third order spike is only about 20 dB down at 100 watts output! I wonder if the bias is adjusted correctly on that unit?

Appears that way.  :o  now check the 60 watt scan. -30db.
and then the sweet spot, the 30 watt scan.
3rd less than 5th.
Think I'll run that one again.
