Title: East Coast to West and Southwest 1-13-2015
Post by: W1AEX on January 13, 2015, 01:25:40 PM
With the beam pointed out to the west and southwest I started calling CQ on 10 meter AM (29.000 MHz) at around 16:00 UTC. I had nice contacts with:

WE7L - Duncan (Colorado) who was running 10 watts to a vertical antenna and reaching up to S-7 on 29.020 MHz
KD5JEJ - Dwight (Texas) who was running an HTX-10 and reaching up to S-9 on 29.020 MHz
WB0HHM - Ray (South Dakota) who was running a Flex 3000 into an 811H amplifier and reaching S-9 + 20 on 29.020 MHz

The band offered good enough propagation to support solid contacts but it was not real stable and each contact began to fall apart after around 20 minutes. Nothing heard from across the pond today at my location up at 29 MHz and above but some very strong SSB signals from Europe were present in the lower phone portion of the band.
