I really had a nice time with a great group this morning on 21.430 Mhz from 0800 thru 0930 PDT.

We had W1AEX, K2WS, W0LS, KE7TRP, and KL7OF round-tabling this morning.

Great conditions, great signals, great fun.

I'm off to buy a hex-beam and tweak my Flex 6300.

Give a listen (tnx W1AEX) ... not bad for the microphone I record my guitar with (Audio Technica AT2035).

Coast to coast ... as if we were sitting together, drinking wine, watching the lunar eclipse.

As Dan said, the band was terrific today and his signal was thundering in beautifully with a steady signal that was S-9 plus for most of our extended conversation. Dan's Flex 6300 was sounding very nice and he should be feeling quite smug about that! Also heard today was Aldo - IW5EKR who was running 60 watts mobile in Italy. He was easy copy most of the time. Hope the conditions continue to build and we all hope more stations show up when they can!

It would be helpful to readers (unless they park themselves in front of the radio all day) if an approximate time was mentioned when the contacts were made especially if they're coast-to-coast or across either pond. Words like "today" or "this morning" are somewhat nebulous since band conditions can change frequently.

'this morning' on San Juan Island, state of Washington, U.S.A. doesn't leave that much to the imagination.

That could be anytime from 1400 - 2000 Zulu. That is often quite a range in conditions and openings on 15 meters.

Kidding aside, actual times do help others to know when to check the band, turn the beam, etc.

Today, October 14, 2014 at 1618Z the band was open and I talked to Tim WA1HLR, Warren W1GUD, Robert W0VMC, and Duane KI4JMH on 21.430 Mhz.

Rob WiAEX is chatting it up with John WD7F at 1815Z but it sounds like the band is leaving us temporarily.

Yesterday around 1500Z the band was open to Europe with at least a half-dozen Icom's and Yaesu's running AM on 21.420 Mhz.

Nice long chat with Tim WA1HLR late in the day, October 17 @ 2130Z. Started fading around 5:00pm local.
Tim presented the history of the Johnstun 600. Earlier he was S8+ on the Ranger II. Nice signal, beautiful full audio.
