I noticed an article in the Jan 2005 issue of Electric Radio describing a homebrew power supply,  and the author mentioned  making meter scales  using MS Word's "drawing feature" (p. 27), and a picture of the result is shown on the front cover.  Looks professional.

I have hard enough time making M$ Word even print a paragraph of text the way I want  it, so I haven't a clue how to print meter scales like the ones illustrated in the picture, with the numbers correctly aligned with the arc of the scale, and appropriate calibration marks on a scale the correct size.

Does anyone know exactly how to do this, or where one could find understandable step-by-step instructions?

I've made a number of custom meter scales using a flatbed scanner and PhotoShop.
I remove the meter meter scale and scan it into PhotoShop. Using Photoshop text you can then customize the scale. I print this using an inkjet printer on photo paper, cut it out, and then glue it over the orginal scale using elmers spray glue.
They come out perfect.
