Title: Gainesville hamfest 2014 images
Post by: Opcom on September 27, 2014, 07:05:39 PM
A small fest as usual. I didn't intentionally take fest pics but here are what I took. The Gainesville fest always is low cost and has unusual items.
My take:
1B35A tube sealed in box $1
Icom IC-255A with IC-SM5 desk mike $20
2) Fluke 8010A DMMs $10 each
TI-82 calculator $5
and some random junk for $1 each.

some weird stuff. In the box were mechanical speed reduction transmissions where gears are changed electrically. What for I don't know but a remote tuner seems possible for re-purpose. Also, the strange round dials with adjusting slugs all the way around and a servo motor underneath. What are those possibly for?  Last picture is my 'haul'. I apologize for the bad cellphone camera.

Good to finally meet you eye to eye Pat.  It was a success for me as I disposed of several items from the estate of my long time friend.

Also several AM operators were present from the Dallas area who I  had not seen in more than a year.  I was tied to the table but did enjoy visiting with you and the others.

Don't forget the Texhoma fest in Ardmore coming the 24th of next month.  It will be about double the size and similar equipment like what you saw can make appearances.

It was great to meet you in person Jim. Been so long since I went to a fest, I was happy also to enjoy that, and see people not seen in a while. Thanks!

Well we know no amount of begging or cajoling could produce that one. Cat just took an interest in the mike, perhaps some beer breath or something I didn't notice. Or another cat or dog smell on it. (er.. dog ate the wind screen??) - Gentleman said the mic and rig worked OK. Anyone may use the picture who wishes.

Among the junque is a little home made box with an octal plug, like would plug into an old receiver. I wonder if it is  sideband adapter of some kind? The schematic drawn from it is attached. 6BY6 pentagrid with rf-like inputs to control grid and G3, then a rf stop filter on the plate, and audio-like output circuit. How weird. Wonder if it is a rudimentary product detector and what it would fit.
