Greetings
My question is an easy one and I am looking for comments that best describe proper tuning settings.
Example: On 75 meters, I can get different settings of tune and match positions that yield a good load for the transmitter. Is it best to find the best match using the most or least amount of capacitance of either cap?
In other words, which cap should I be most concerned with? Is there a general rule of thumb such as using the least amount of C to get a good match, etc...
On 75 meters, I usually end up with both caps around mid scale, so I have made a cheat sheet that gets me to the ballpark and I fine tune from there. It seems that I usually end up waltzing down in C on both.
I want to make sure I understand how to interpret the "correct" approach.

Good question. A look at the Johnson schematic and the desire to minimize any loss in the Matchbox. For a given match, the smaller shunt C is desired. Emphasize given match, that means I want to obtain the same desired SWR as seen by the transmitter.
