That is amazing, I thought he had stopped being on the air and was just collecting stuff. I have never heard him from here in my locale.

Was that with Frank's old 4-1000 rig?  I understand Joe is now the proud owner of it.

Doubt that was a 4-1000 signal... he was weak here, but of course the band was not tip top either. Caught the end of the QSO, recognized the voice and then heard the call. Not sure who he was speaking with.

The Vortex has sucked in another rig??
The gravity there must be 2x normal!

Which "Frank" was that?

No, Joe...

I talked with Carol & Frank late yesterday afternoon and asked about the 4-1000 scream modulated tx and it's still in the radio room, in the basement... But, yes, The Vortex has dibbs on it, just hasen't picked it up yet.

Frank said it broke his heart to see all his stuff out in the staging area (back yard) as JN & son halled it off...  Took 3 truck lodes...

Actually, Carol called me to let me know that my SP-400 was set aside for me or someone to pick-up.   I hope to be able to drive down the end of this week to get it and its PS.

Frank has a computer next to his recliner and does moniter the forum...

I think the theory is black holes evaporate (Steven Hawking), but VERY slowly.
I have an FT101 that came out of the vortex, the VFO acts crazy on TX due to some mod and I was looking at it for Joe
(needs a regulator board).
Undocumented mods are always lots of fun.

The few times I worked Joe he was running 2 watts out of some manpack rig from the 50's or something.
Of all the stuff he has (everything ever made?) he is on the manpack...

I never had one and wanted to try one, but I do not like the FT101 (or the 102) at all.

I've always admired the black wrinkle transmitter rack with I think a pair of I think 812's modulated by 811's.  Not sure if it was standard width but very nice old school.

Always magic going through the basement and seeing your radios d'jour Frank. I think the favorite was the SX-28 and of course the 4x1. I'd like to say I'd spent many happy hours operating them, but alas, was on the other side of the QSO.

Well Many of us did get to tickle the 4x1 vibes at Gathersburg, Bowie, Howard County..
That ol' gal never let us down. Full scrote without plate modulation, but with a heart of filament gold.  What could be prettier than that glowing bottle discreetly, but only partially hidden behind hardware screen?  She courted many a beau, W3NP's SP-200 comes to mind.   Too bad, another rejected suitor, the SX-28 always home awaitin'.
