Title: Large amplifiers installed
Post by: John K5PRO on September 14, 2014, 03:32:11 PM
While this isn't related to AM phone operation and boatanchors, it might be
of interest to the technical side here. It was already posted on the Amplifier discussion.

For a look (and a paper download) at some large RF power amplifiers in
scientific installations you can download the PDFs of papers, from this
link:

https://oraweb.cern.ch/pls/linac2014/TOC.htm

Then click the MOPP session and find "MOPP107". This is what I reported
on last week. Pair of TH628L tetrodes for 3000 KW peak, 360 kW average power. On the
air now. No modulation besides the variations required to keep the RF field within 1% and the phase within 1 deg at all times.

There are lots of other fun reports there if you care to search.
