Title: WMGM FM Strapping WVEI FM on 103.7 Tonight
Post by: AJ1G on June 30, 2014, 11:50:53 PM
Got a headache trying to listen to the Red Sox tonight on WVEI-FM on 103.7 while cutting the lawn, listening on my pocket Sony AM/FM headset radio.  They are less than 15 miles north of here in Hope Valley RI with an ERP of 37KW.  Loudest tropo enhancement on FM I have ever heard, from WMGM FM down near Atlantic City about 10 times as far away as WVEI with an ERP of 50KW. WMGM was full quieting over WVEI in and out for several hours.  2 meters must have been hot - I dont have anything going on there at the moment though.

A few years back when I was CE for KJZZ 91.5 & KBAQ 89.5 in phoenix, the 89.5 was overtaken via ducting by WKSU in Ohio for over two hours.

The audience didn't think it was amazing, but I did.

Two years ago I was driving around here listening to WFGY in Altoona, which is on 98.1 (30kw ERP at 287m HAAT). Usually they come blasting in where I was at that time, but I noticed they where having some problems with other stations in the background. Made a turn onto another road and suddenly they disappear and are replaced by KMBZ in Kansas City, MO, right as that station did their ID. ANd then right after that, KMBZ disappeared and WFGY was back.

Watching WGBH from Bahston on UHF tv here in NJ and listening to some folks on 10 meter ssb from Eastern Mass. 10 meters stronger than usual from New England.

10 also open to midwest and southeast at 21:45 loco time.

Called CQ on 29000 and got someone with a squeeling tx who gave up.
