Title: EN82-EM12 6M AM DX Contact Youtube Video
Post by: W8ASI on June 24, 2014, 10:12:44 PM
Talk about serious fun on 6M AM this year!! Around 11:30am EST on 6-23-14, Myself (W8ASI) and a local KD8UZJ were talking on 50.400 AM  here in Detroit, Mi suburbs, EN82 and we heard station W5VB immediately pop in from dallas texas area, EM12 (about 1500KM away from here, EN82) using a Heathkit HW-10 (8 watts). Conditions were not that good and I was not pointed directly in his direction with my beam.  He switched over to a Kenwood TS-60 and a 400 watt solid state amp and then walked right into our rooms!  This was KD8UZJ's first ever 6M AM DX contact. I was running a modified RCI 5054DX100, peaking around 200 watts at 15.2v and KD8UZJ was using a Kenwood TS-2000 with MC-90 mic and Mbox lite/pro tools and 3rd party DSP software mods.  My external cooling fan for my RCI crapped out in the middle of the QSO and started making tons of noise so I cut the power wires while I was on the air which was kinda funny. Check out the youtube video posted by W5VB: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flD8GCpBHdY  (check out his other videos, he has some other 6M AM videos)
