Title: Russian Doorknobs
Post by: ka4koe on June 23, 2014, 10:13:38 AM
Anyone used the Rooskie KVI3 doorknobs?? I tried a 10 KV 330PF (slightly smaller diameter than a US nickel), and I can tell you they heat up really quick (in the 80m band switch). Apparently this type is not suitable.

I bought some Russian doorknobs about 6 months ago, 1000 pF at 15 kV, without really checking the specs out. The price was right with free shipping (from Ukraine!), but when they arrived they were the size of hockey pucks and wouldn't fit physically in my transmitter, so I never used them. Don't know how they would do in an RF situation, but if anyone wants them, let me know. Now I look for Sprague, Jennings, or some other familiar manufacturer or just take Timtron's advice and buy them from Ameritron -- pricey, but you know they will work!
