Title: WRL Globe Scout 65A
Post by: WA2OLZ on June 15, 2014, 08:29:53 AM
My fist novice transmitter was a WRL Globe Scout 40A. I put lots of QSOs in the log with that rig. A ham contacted me by email a couple of years back and let me know he had my original Globe Scout. He could tell because I had stamped my name and call inside of the manual. I couldn't talk him into selling or swapping it back to me, much to my dismay. They are hard to find!

I just snagged its slightly younger cousin, the Globe Scout 65A, on FleaBay. Allegedly it loads and transmits OK, but no word on the caps, etc. One obvious nicety would be to have the front panel refinished and new lettering put on. There was a guy who used to do that, but I believe he became a SK some years back. Any leads would be appreciated to locate someone who would do that for me. I know it's certainly not in my skill set.

More to follow when the Scout arrives. Hope to see some of you on the air with the mighty 50 watt 6146 burning up the either!
