Title: DK4EI on 15-meter AM
Post by: W7NGA on May 21, 2014, 12:06:56 PM
DK4EI Heinz in Germany was solid S9 this morning on 21.430 at 0900 PDST.

We had a very pleasant QSO and I was also S9.

I had just soldered in the last pin-diode on my Alpha 89 to repair the infamous RX pin-diode issue with this amplifier.
No reason to buy the diodes from Alpha .. the common 1N4007 from Mouser @ $0.15 works nicely and you can
buy 20 for what Alpha will charge you. Mouser also has the Littelfuse fuse for $5 that attempts to protect the
RX diodes, but not quite!  :(

That's a nice catch Dan! Also, great work getting the Alpha up and running so quickly!

My voice is still down for the count as I battle this cold + allergy event but I'll be tuning around and enjoying the activity!

I've spent some time on 15m, and have not made a lot of contacts. Maybee I'll try 15m AM mobile on the commute to work. With a yellowie   rice box.
