In the late 50s on into the late 60s (that I know about) Realistic tubes had a lifetime guarantee.  They are not common today but I did manage to find a couple in a receiver I bought back in the mid 90s and RS replaced them without a fuss. 

It did require the manager of the store to call HQ to find out about the situation but he was very nice when he learned of the policy.
