And yes they glow to tell you the local oscillator level is good.

There are aficionados that will blast you to bits for even THINKING of doing such a sacrilege. I found this out when I recommended removing ONE TURN on a 51J4 PTO coil to bring it back into linearity. You'd think I tried to do something like this for all the hate mail I got:
