Title: Super Bright Led's
Post by: Joe-N2YR on January 09, 2005, 05:34:46 PM
Look at the spec's on these products.. The white strip lights up my bench area enough to operate and take notes. This would be great for battery operated portable stations.

Those super bright blue leds make great diodes for a double balanced mixer and have a higher dynamic range than standard diodes. And yes they glow to tell you the local oscillator level is good.

Such a bright idea! Also, probably it is possible to balance by brightness? ;)

Also those LED's are great for replace the lamps in old radios, I use them instead the tiny band indicator lamps in my  Collins 32V3, and looks great!
( sorry for the Collins purist, anyway this mod. is easily reversed he he)

Pedro, you have to be really careful admitting you ever modified one of Art Collins' masterpieces.  There are aficionados that will blast you to bits for even THINKING of doing such a sacrilege.  I found this out when I recommended removing ONE TURN on a 51J4 PTO coil to bring it back into linearity.  You'd think I tried to do something like this for all the hate mail I got:
