Title: Does anyone know what this brass sleeve is called?
Post by: n2len on April 06, 2014, 07:15:44 PM
Would anyone have any idea what this brass fitting part is called?

I need to find a replacement...

Thank you...

It's a locking bushing.  It would help if we knew what it came from.  What part??  They are used on tuning caps, pots, and other things.

Hey Fred,

Thanks....
Sorry I left that out. It is a locking washer to hold the knob on the Load shaft on a Acom 1000 amplifier.

Quite a bit of European gear has collet type knob mounting.

Thanks Roger,  I thought that shape rang a bell but didn't connect the dots.  I have a machine shop with at least 100 different type collets.

Fred,

I remember being confused by the piece of gear I ran into with those knobs :)

Earlier this evening I was cleaning up some stuff in the wood shop and the photo reminded me a bit of the adapter collet assembly that fits my Delta 3HP shaper which allows you to use router bits in addition to shaper cutters.  But I don't think the requirements for N2LEN's piece are as stringent since he won't be spinning his loading knob at several thousand RPM :)
