Title: EFJ KW Matchbox relay noise
Post by: kb9r on March 20, 2014, 07:46:26 PM
Hello,

Has anyone found a way to reduce the "clang" when the t/r relay is activated in the matchbox?
Maybe a slab of metal under the relay to keep the cabinet from amplifying the "clang"?

Thanks,

Joe - KB9R

It seems to me that mounting it on rubber grommets so that it is isolated completely might be a better bet.

I've never tried that, in the spirit of full disclosure :)

Clangs & Clunks are the sounds of heavy metal ;D

Much better than rogerbeepers & reverbs. ::)

A relay clunk with a some reverb added is AWESOME!

Mine use to buzz.  So I put DC on the coil and it quieted right down.  If your just clunks that is a good thing but if it bothers you some acoustical isolation in the mount would tame it down.
