Title: against the grain ... Post by: W7NGA on March 01, 2014, 10:38:16 AM I awoke this morning to find my long-wire still hanging in the trees after last night's wind storm .. I was imbued with excitement and anticipation of 15-meter fun.
As the R390A warmed .. my enthusiasm was dashed to find a SSB contest of some sort (I have no idea the intent or purpose) going great guns. The laundry room in the corner of the shack, has developed a leak. I must move a thousand pounds of boat-anchors and test equipment to get to the washer. I am not a happy ham today .. though perhaps if I can convince my wife we don't really need a washer/dryer, I could knock out a wall and gain more space for ham gear. And .. it's already wired for 220V! :) I have parked the receiver/transmitter on 21.430 Mhz, and have decided that my AM activities are still worthy of consideration amongst the madness! I'm calling CQ AM on the hour ... hoping to find kindred spirits helping to burn a very small hole in the 15-meter ether. Against the cultural grain for sure ... but resonant with a truer spirit methinks :) best 73's dan W7NGA Title: Re: against the grain ... Post by: W7NGA on March 01, 2014, 11:05:13 AM My Collins 32V3 is limited to bands that existed in the 1950's :)
Title: Re: against the grain ... Post by: W2VW on March 01, 2014, 11:10:52 AM Well Daniel if you don't get what you are looking for try 10. The contest people are currently below the area of AM activity.
Band is OK here so it may work for you too. Good luck. I have plumbing projects to do also but at least it's mostly supply plumbing. Title: Re: against the grain ... Post by: n1uvi on March 01, 2014, 11:27:28 AM Can it be any ruder to have your QSO disrupted by someone shouting "CQ CONTEST" with
an over-driven amp right on the frequency your using? Then when they are informed of their ignorance, they set up 1 kc away and start again? PLEASE cont esters, have some consideration for others and use your heads and to the ARRL, if you are the sponsor of a contest, please try to remind the participants of proper radio etiquette, to consider the band plans, and stay within the band frequencies for your license class The plea goes unheeded Title: Re: against the grain ... Post by: Steve - K4HX on March 01, 2014, 12:09:56 PM It is high likely that no contester ever read this forum, let alone in the middle of a contest. Complaining about them or ask them to move here is useless.

Title: Re: against the grain ... Post by: Steve - K4HX on March 01, 2014, 12:36:43 PM The AM section of 10 meters is completely unmolested.

of course, I see that as the problem .. not the solution. dan W7NGA |
