Title: Another newbie DX60 Question Post by: N9NEO on January 02, 2005, 05:08:30 PM I have to put ptt into a friend's DX60. I did Bob's -K4TAX audio mods and have gotten very nice reports using D104.
From what I can tell from schematic of function switch, I need to key B+ So looks to me like I can just put NO relay contact in series with B+. DX60 just stays in AM position and relay does it all. He is using outboard HG-10B vfo as well which runs off of 300v B+. I also have to key TR relay and some kind of receiver mute. And he also needs a contact close for his Keenwood leanyar. What's the game plan for this sorta thing? One big relay with lots of poles or relay a drives relay b and so forth? And I don't understand why vfo is keyed on these old boatanchors. Won't it drift for a few seconds after ptt while it warms up? 73 NEO Title: Re: Another newbie DX60 Question Post by: K1MVP on January 02, 2005, 07:35:05 PM Quote from: N9NEO I have to put ptt into a friend's DX60. You do not even need to "dig into" the xmtr as I have done PTT on mine using an "external" relay box with a couple 12vdc relays which are "activated" by my D-104 microphone. the relays simply switch the ant from rcvr to xmtr, and I also have a set of contacts "in series" with the normally closed key jack on the front of the transmitter which just "keys" or "unkeys" the xmtr.--You dont even need to get into the rig to mess with the B+, and this "scheme" works great. If you want, --I will mail you a small print , if ur address is ok on QRZ.com. 73`s, Rene, K1MVP :-P P.S., depending on how many "functions" u want,--such as rcvr muting, etc, etc, u just can add an additional 12vdc relay in the "external" PTT relay box es away u go. Title: ok good Post by: N9NEO on January 02, 2005, 09:56:27 PM Rene, AMfone - Dedicated to Amplitude Modulation on the Amateur Radio Bands
Ok, that would be good. I might have a question or two about install. I know DX60 is easy rig, but been away from radio long time. 73 Bob Yzordderrex@verizon.net will work. |
