Title: WX3K big signal ...
Post by: W7NGA on February 09, 2014, 01:08:47 PM
First QSO with Stephanie WX3K ... I was chuckling to myself when she kept saying EICO 720 and EICO 730, thinking that she was mispronouncing 'ICOM'. But no .. she was using the bona-fide EICO transmitter of my teenage dreams with the matching modulator! 21.430 Mhz at 0930 PDT .. the band was dead but I had the receiver turned up as I went to the kitchen for more coffee and heard the Collins 75A4 go quiet. So many memories of reading the old catalogs and QST ads back in 1964. My mother yelling at me to turn out the lights and go to sleep, and with a flashlight under the covers .. I fell asleep with visions of Viking Rangers and the EICO 720 dancing in my head. No counting sheep .. I counted imminent DX contacts!
