Title: 10 AM Still Alive And Well GW8TBG Video Post by: W2VW on February 04, 2014, 09:08:36 PM 10 AM is still playing from East Coast to Yerp and Western States later in the day.
Worked IW5EKR with strong sigs both ways and later GW8TBG: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFhQhwBe814 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcksUzvWue0 Sorry for the rudimentary video, a work in progress. Heard a half dozen US QSOs on AM later along with some unidentified French? speaking ssb on 29000. They got strapped by Aldo (IW5EKR) with his dipole : ) Title: Re: 10 AM Still Alive And Well GW8TBG Video Post by: Steve - K4HX on February 04, 2014, 10:30:07 PM Talked to Aldo on Sunday on 29010. He's like a beacon on 10 meters.
Fine Business video. The station looks good too. Title: Re: 10 AM Still Alive And Well GW8TBG Video Post by: Pete, WA2CWA on February 05, 2014, 02:09:14 AM Talked to Aldo on Sunday on 29010. He's like a beacon on 10 meters. Fine Business video. The station looks good too. Even I worked him Sunday morning and he's been known to appear on 15 meters too. Decent propagation Sunday morning into Europe. K1KW was down the band from me; N1EU and W2VW were up the band from me. Didn't hear any other state side signals. Title: Re: 10 AM Still Alive And Well GW8TBG Video Post by: n1eu on February 05, 2014, 06:40:18 AM They got strapped by Aldo (IW5EKR) with his dipole : ) Dave, FWIW I think Aldo uses a 3-element yagi on 10M. Yes, Aldo is the 10M EU AM beacon. When he's s9 here, I know the band is in decent shape. 73, Barry N1EU Title: Re: 10 AM Still Alive And Well GW8TBG Video Post by: W2VW on February 05, 2014, 09:29:57 AM Hi Barry,
I think it's I5KAP Franco who has the yagi. 73, Dave Title: Re: 10 AM Still Alive And Well GW8TBG Video Post by: n1eu on February 05, 2014, 10:42:58 AM Franco has a 4-element yagi!
Aldo has told me on several occasions that he was using a 3-element yagi and he never mentioned a dipole. However, I'm sure if he said he was using a dipole, he was ;-) 73, Barry N1EU Title: Re: 10 AM Still Alive And Well GW8TBG Video Post by: W2VW on February 05, 2014, 10:48:06 AM Franco has a 4-element yagi! However, I'm sure if he said he was using a dipole, he was ;-) 73, Barry N1EU His signal sounds like a kilowatt and a one wavelength boom yagi. I just asked and got this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4Y3pUMS24s&feature=youtu.be Title: Re: 10 AM Still Alive And Well GW8TBG Video Post by: pe1mph on February 05, 2014, 12:21:30 PM Hello AM Lovers,
Nice conditions on Ten, but not a long time... Last days I heard AM stations on 29.000 khz. Mostly around 17.00 hour (afternoon) by me, thats 04.00 London GMT time. But only during +/- 15 min. I can hear AM on Ten. When I hear a station on Ten (29.000) I try to get contact. :D Mostly the USA AM stations heard 'many' Europeans calling.... I hear only the station from the USA talking.... Maybe we have next days 'longer' good (AM) conditions on Ten! Greetings, Henk, PE1MPH Dokkum, The Netherlands Title: Re: 10 AM Still Alive And Well GW8TBG Video Post by: W2VW on February 05, 2014, 12:26:36 PM 15:25 GMT Howarth GW3TMP working KW7Y in Washington state on 29000. Paul also worked 3 other UK stations both sides heard here!!!

Check out the numbers from the latest ARRL Propagation Bulletin.
Quote The average daily sunspot number for the month of January 2014 was 126, the highest it has been since October-November 2013 when it was 127.2 and 125.7. Prior to that, the most recent date it was higher was way back in 2003, when the average daily sunspot number was 132.8 in July, and 150 in January. We track a 3-month moving average for sunspot numbers, and the averages for the three months ending in September (2013), October, November, December and January (2014) were 77.4, 91.2, 102.9, 123.7 and 123.3. The last previous 3-month average that was a high as recent numbers was 128.9 ending in February 2003. Stuff from the West coming in here well now. IW5EKR Aldo's antenna farm: The third picture shows what's left of WA3UAN's Globe King in the right hand background. Title: Re: 10 AM Still Alive And Well GW8TBG Video Post by: Pete, WA2CWA on February 09, 2014, 03:47:39 PM I heard Aldo on both 15 and 10 meters today. He has become my test beacon for openings. :D

I always envisioned Aldo parked on top of a hill. His signal is just too loud not to be. FB on UAN. |
