Title: Dial Gear Lube Post by: n3lrx on January 29, 2014, 06:11:17 PM I've got a receiver (RS DX-300) that works quite well, apart from one issue. The preselector gear drive assembly is too tight to turn the preselector cap so the clutch slips and the dial just turns without making any adjustment. I tried loosening up the screws on the gear assembly but that only makes them loosen up even more as they turn then they fall off. I 'think' it's a simple lube issue.
The question is what's a good loob for plastic gears? I don't know of anything right off hand other than petroleum based lube but that may eat the plastic. Any suggestions? Currently I've been making adjustments by turning the gears directly. But that's a pain because the case is always open. It's a great backup receiver that I'd like to fix.
