Title: Nice Saturday morning conditions 21.430
Post by: W1AEX on January 25, 2014, 12:52:50 PM
Before calling CQ I checked the band from top to bottom to see what could be heard. The band was jammed with big CW and SSB signals from the bottom all the way up to around 21.400 but there was not much else to be seen or heard above that in the AM window. At any rate, I called CQ with the beam pointed out west for about 5 minutes on 21.430 without any response. Thinking the band was flat I made one last call and was rewarded with a mighty "thump" as Harry W0LS keyed his rig and dropped a 10dB over S9 signal into CT while running low power. When he brought the amplifier up he jumped up another 10 dB. We had a nice chat for about 45 minutes without much in the way of fading. The band is still going strong now. The screenshot shows Harry's signal towering over everything else and the mp3 shows that he definitely has the audio dialed in perfectly. Glenn G8NOF indicated that he was hearing Harry's signal about 5-5 as we chatted, so there's RF floating across the pond today.
