Title: Winter Solstice
Post by: Tom WA3KLR on December 22, 2013, 04:07:20 PM
I snapped the attached photo yesterday morning out the living room window shortly after sunrise.  All the snow is melted today with record high tempertures in the Allentown PA area.

The day of latest sunrise is actually around January 4th however.

Beautiful.

It peaked out at 79 degrees here today. Currently it's 63.

yup. Last month was Blotmonath, the last Sunday of Advent is here, and now the solstice. It's heading for the 20's tonight and The Nightmare Before Christmas is playing at the Goth club this evening. Cold and dark. Let's have some spooky fun. The warmth of the family dinner at Christmas will be a great contrast. Christmas is what I've really been looking forward to.

Nice picture, did they ever find the coal in the ground in Allentown?

I also noticed above the telephone pole a kite flying?

Hi Terry,

That's not a kite, it's bug scum on the window!

Nice here in the Bay Area, got up into the low 60's over the weekend, working on getting my yard ready for the advent of the rainy season which is late this year. Been very dry, we have only had a few rain storms so far this season.

I've lived in California since 1971 but was raised in SE Mass, Christmas in the palm trees still seems so odd.
