Title: Supressor modulation question
Post by: W7TFO on December 01, 2013, 06:29:02 PM
Suppose you have a pair of pentodes in push-pull as supressor modulated finals.

Does one feed the supressors out-of-phase audio or in-phase ???

Is this a trick question??

I haven't ever thought about suppressor modulation; but the modulation of a pair of tubes in push-pull should be applied in the same phase to both tubes... regardless of the type of modulation.

Nope..I just can't find a definitive answer.

For single or parallel, it is simple. But PP?

BTW, I do believe that is the shortest answer Stu ever posted...

Stu provided the simple answer.  It is no different than plate modulating a push/pull final in that the modulation is applied in the same phase to both tubes.

OK boys, I'll hook it up as a single source of supressor voltage.

Many thanks for the quick replies! :D
