Hello AM Lovers,

This morning I heard some stations in AM on +/- 3873 khz.
Last weeks bad conditions on 80 mtrs, but this morning...
I recorded some 'strong/fair' stations, see & listen (below).
Sorry I couldn't hear the names/calls from them.
But maybe you hearing yourself talking on the recording! ;D
The first station on the recording were strong: S9+10
Others were between S1 to S5 this morning.

Evenso I heard AM on 3885 khz, but their signals were weak to fair (S 3).

On MW I only hear the BC stations on: 1510, 1390 & 930 khz.
Others were very weak today, but last weeks I could hear often more!
For example: one week ago, the conditions on MW were very good!
Then the BC station on 1520 khz had a giant signal, like a locale station. :D

All received with the Kenwood R-5000 in our livingroom.
Connect with ant. tuner to an end-feeded-wire.

Don't know who the first one is, all I could hear was WA4 then the rest was uncopyable. The other station is Grant, W4BVT.

Listening to it again sounds like the first one is WA4WAM, but I'm not too sure on that since the way he says the last part of his call is somewhat muffled to me.

Up the band from their QSO on AM, state of Washington, California, Arizona, and Texas were good copy for several hours.

Maybe....
I have listen again to my recording.
But I cann't pickup the first talker his call, sorry.
Prehaps he reads our 'words' on this AM Forum?

Florida is far away from Dokkum, Holland! :D

Yea that last part is hard to understand. The whole band was really good last night (this morning for you), heard Steve, WA1QIX and Rob, K5UJ talking to a guy out in Idaho on 3885, then heard Grant, W4BVT and Clark, N1BCG on 3875, but those two were a lot weaker than they normally are, I could barely hear Grant when he normally blasts into here. Rob and Steve up on 3885 were around 20 over or better the whole time and I could even hear the station out in Idaho too.

This morning I awake around 04.45 by me and I listen in our livingroom.
I heard again some AM talkers on 3873 & 3885 khz.
But I heard no names or calls.... sorry.

On 3885 khz were often a big carrier! :'(

I made a recording, listen if you want (see below).
First from the 'talkers' on 3873 you hear on the recording.
But when the recordingtime is at +/-  02:10 I tuned to 3885 khz.
You hear the big carrier and a station comming 'over' it!

After I made this recording I let our cat out... :)
And I were going back to my wife (in bed).

I'm trying to remember who all was on 3873 last night since I was listening to them at the same time you made that recording, I know N1BCG was, along with Ken, KC2UDZ, but there was a third station and I can't remeber who it was.

This morning I heard some AM stations on 3878 khz.
Weak to fair signals and no names and calls.

...henk, why not try listening lower, not in the ghetto of 3880/85?...lots going on, 3695, 3705, 3725, 3730 etc...

Tim is right Henk, 3725 about 15:00 to 15.30 your time. Should be good AM in the clear.

Most of the activity in the 3700 range is much earlier in the evening - when the band is very crowded in Europe or when Henk is sleeping. That said, I've contacted Henk quite a few times on 3705 kHz over the past six years. The time was always after midnight local time (EST).

Oh OK. Well we keep 3725 pretty active mornings here and evenings before and after the supper hours. VE6 VE3 VE2 K4s etc I leave a monitor rx on it all the time as it is a very high activity spot. Even both Tim Smiths (PG and HLR) have been on there at the same time! Probably highest AM activity on the 80M band. It would be hard to call CQ there when the band is open and not get a response. Most of us are listening for that tell tale" Hissssssssssssssssssss" and are ready to go as soon as the tubes hit temp.

Mostly mornings (5.20 - 5.45 GMT time) I listen before I go to my work.
Often I hear AM between 3875 - 3885 and I make sometimes recordings.
Around 05.00 hour F6AQK is calling in AM on +/- 3710 khz.
While I am (eating) in our kitchen I heard him sometimes with 9H1ES talking.
But early mornings evenso many ssb around that freq.
Big ssb signals from Germany every morning on 3703 khz.
Therefore we 'moved' mornings from 3705 to +/- 3710 khz.
Sorry never I heard AM from the USA on 3695, 3725 or 3730 khz.
Are there AM stations qrv when I listen early mornings (5.20 - 5.45)??

And indeed me and other AM stations from Holland had a qso with USA! :)
When the freq. is clean and conditions are good, it is possible, sure!
