Title: Relay Contact Ratings
Post by: W1RKW on December 29, 2004, 06:48:48 AM
Does anyone know how the current ratings work on relay contacts? What I'm trying to determine is whether the current ratings in a multiple contact relay such as a DPDT type are for a single set of contacts or all the combined contacts.

As I recall , paralleling contacts for increased current is a problem, as the make and break is typically the problem , and one pair of contacts will always make/break first and suffer all the  pitting etc. As a result I would bet the rating is for a single contact .

The rating is for a single set of contacts.
