Title: A question about capacitors Post by: KG0MN on October 22, 2013, 08:04:26 PM When a person recaps a piece of gear should you always replace the capacitors with the same type you take out? Such as should a ceramic cap always be replaced with ceramic and mica with another mica? Or has the process of making capacitors improved enough that other type are better in certain situations? I see the orange drop capacitors praised as something like the gold standard for capacitors, when and where should those be used and where not to put them.
I think that is enough beginner questions for now. thanks KG0MN Title: Re: A question about capacitors Post by: Pete, WA2CWA on October 22, 2013, 10:39:22 PM Here's a great tutorial on capacitor types and generally where they should be used: AMfone - Dedicated to Amplitude Modulation on the Amateur Radio Bands
