Title: Band Had Activity
Post by: Pete, WA2CWA on September 29, 2013, 05:58:09 PM
This morning, between 11 and 12 EDT, worked England, France, Italy, Germany, and Texas(off the back of the beam) all on AM around 21.420. Some signals weren't great but activity was there. K1KW and W2VW were on 10 M chatting away.

Chuck's signal peaked at 90 degrees here yesterday. Usually a sign conditions into
Europe are about to work extremely well.

I just listened on 15 a little yesterday. Heard a few nice AM signals out of the UK.

When I first tuned up to 10, I heard Chuck calling CQ for some time with no responses. So, I went to 15 to give it a try but in between contacts I would flip back to 10 to see what Chuck was doing. That's when I heard the both of you. Signals averaged only about S3 to 5 and my beam was pointed roughly at 75 degrees.

Conditions between the east and west coasts were pretty decent yesterday. This morning (Wednesday) it was pretty good as well. I had a nice 30 minute chat with Dan WB5YUZ down in Taylor, TX and signals remained between S-7 and S9+ for the duration. That was followed with a contact with Ed WA4NJY down in Florida who was running 20 watts. We chatted for another 30 minutes and then the band began to change. No sign of the usual big signals from the Canadian Rocky Mountain area or from across the pond though. You just never know how the dice will roll with 15 meters...

Rob...I heard your signal fade in and out a couple times yesterday morning....there were a few sigs from the midwest during the day...No morning europe or late afternoon Japan like the past week...The atmospheric noise seemed low yesterday as well...Hide and watch...

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the signal report from the NW. I'm surprised you could hear me at all. At one point I could hear Rick - VE6CQ up in the Calgary area but instead of his usual S-9 + 20 dB thundering signal he was only S-1 to S-3 at most. The SW and west coast seemed to be holding up with decent signals but not much was heard from across the pond or up in the NW. Hopefully, things will come back in the next couple of days.

Rob

Had a nice contact with Rick VE6CQ. Good signal, 20 over 9 at times.
