Title: Antique Wireless International Conference
Post by: W3GMS on August 25, 2013, 03:46:13 PM
Not sure how many AWA members we have on AMfone, but Martha and I just returned from the International Conference of the AWA.  Its held about this time each year up at RIT in Rochester, NY.

This year was extra special in that the new museum opening was held for the AWA members this past Tuesday.  3 phases are planned, but phase one has been completed and is "over the top"!  Lots of fundraising along with grants made this possible.  The new museum is located in Bloomfield, NY not far from the previous AWA museum.  The rest of the conference focused on the usual lectures on the various radio topics from the early days of radio and going up through the classic era.  This years theme was Heathkit and Chuck Penson who authored the book, "Heathkit-A guide to the Amateur Radio Products" gave an outstanding  presentation on Heathkit test equipment.

I understand that next years conference theme will be Hallicrafters.
