Title: UTC S6 6.3 / 7.5 volt filament transformer info?
Post by: w1vtp on July 29, 2013, 12:12:09 PM
Does anyone know what the actual windings are on a UTC S6 filament transformer?  I'm trying to avoid loading dozens of GIF files to find the info

The way the terminals show it looks like it may be a 7.5 volt secondary with 6.3 taps on it.  But there are two different "CT"s on it which might suggest separate windings.  That would suit my needs perfectly

According to this:  http://www.technicalaudio.com/pdf/UTC_United_Transformer_Corp+TRW+OPT/UTC_United_Transformer_Corp_1960_REM_24.pdf (http://www.technicalaudio.com/pdf/UTC_United_Transformer_Corp+TRW+OPT/UTC_United_Transformer_Corp_1960_REM_24.pdf)

The S6 is an input transformer.  The S61 is a 7.5V tapped at 6.3V @ 10A

Howdy,

This is from the 1968 UTC Catalog...

Looks like an UTC S-6 is a carbon mic to grid transformer!

Thanks guys for your response.  Mike - you have a really sweet looking operating position.  You figured it out that my 76 year old eyes didn't catch the "!" at the end of the model - yep - it's a S61.  I was hoping for separate windings but not so.

Oh well - it's a nice xfmr but not for my current needs. Back on the shelf in the back room it goes

PS:  you too Bill.  You guys keep me on the straight and narrow ;D
