Title: which Octal is the 12AU7 or 5814?
Post by: Opcom on July 24, 2013, 07:45:40 PM
I want all Octals in a new piece here. It's the right thing to do.

Which Octal is the same as the 12AU7 or 5814?

strange I don't have a sub book.

The closest octal to a 12AU7 is the 6SN7.

Thanks! I see it's not exactly alike, but close is OK. There might not be a direct cross. Not in the resistance coupled amplifier data in the manuals either. Time to look at curves. All the other tubes except the line output are 6N7's, but it can't be used in this position which is in a bridge unlike most of the old tube compressors. I'd like to copy the Collins 26W compressor. It has a very wide range according to the graphs, and a 100uS attack time.

6SN7 --> 12AU7 (almost identical)

6SL7 --> 12AX7 +/-
