Title: DISTRIBUTING AUDIO
Post by: KB5MD on February 05, 2013, 12:46:06 PM
I use several different transmitters at various times and switch the audio from the audio chain to each individual transmitter.  The big drawback
to doing this is that each transmitter has different audio drive requirements.  Is anyone using a distribution system of sorts to adjust the audio to each transmitter in advance rather than having to adjust each time  you change transmitters?  I am thinking of an audio feed with some type of attenuators for adjusting to each transmitter requirement.  Sort of a mixer in reverse. Any thoughts on this?

You need an audio DA (distribution amplifier) with individual output adjustments.

PM me and I'll get one to you.

Why not use a Lo Z buffer/amp, with gain set to accommodate the rig needing the most drive and reduce the mic gain on the other rigs as needed.

All the transmitters are broadcast type with no mike gain on each one

I use a Rane SM-26b for this purpose.  One input to six outputs with individual gain control.

There are several currently available on eBay (a couple at ridiculous prices), but $100 should get you one.

Howdy Y'all,
I use a Behringer MX-882 Splitter/Mixer devoted just for this.
It's cheap and works like a hose for this application.
Mine is about 9 years old with no issues.
They have been selling for $90 to $110 bucks new on eBay.
