Title: Hallicrafters SX-62/42 Local Oscillator
Post by: AB3FL on January 15, 2013, 10:54:58 PM
I am working on my SX-62A and trying to figure out where the LO should be.  Bands 1,2, and 3 seem to work fine with it above the indicated frequency.  I cannot get Band 4(15-32MC) to work with it on the high side, but it works fine with it on the low side.  Bands 5 and 6 (FM) are working with it on the high side.  Two questions:

1) Where should the LO be on bands 1-4
2) Is there any harm of loss of sensitivity if I make bands 1-4 all on the low side?

I am hoping that option 2 will work

thanks

Tom,

Band 4 should be low side injection, others are high.  Tracking and calibration will not hold across the band if you try low side tracking on bands 1 to 3 and you wouldn't even be able to get the oscillator to go low side on the lower end of band 1 without a lot of added capacitance or inductance.
