Well done, Chris !

I always enjoy a story like yours that has pictures and words to put it all together.

I helped rescue a BC1-H a couple years ago, the younger sister to yours, and the guy who has it, Tim, W3TIM, has been working to park it on 160.  He has another one on 75M and yes, they make a nice footprint.

He was calling them "H1" and "H2" for a while, sort like the Hummer nomenclature ...

And TimTron, WA1HLR, told me the other night he has landed a BC1-F, the dual cabinet job with the barn doors.  Talk about a beast.  You'll know it when it arrives on the airwaves...

The BC-1F is a nice looking transmitter, there's a video on Youtube of Gerry, KC8ZUL's 1F. Can't remember if I've ever heard it or worked him when he was running it, I know I've heard him on the portable 20V-3, but can't remember hearing the Gates.

Great to work you on 160.  The Gates to Gates qso was great even with all the noise and qrm.  Hope to work you again many times in the future.

Thanks guys ...

I'm currently fighting a case of S9+10 power line noises, each intermittent.  I've located the two poles, and today the power company tech was able to finally catch them in flagrante, and will next schedule a crew to fix the problems - about the 15th for me in the last three years.

I will be on just a bit till then.  My 75A3 doesn't have a noise blanker so reception is rough.

Congratulations Chris, Job well done!
There's something to be said for a transmitter that you can walk inside!
I like that call sign engraving

Chris

Very impressive restoration job Chris!  Can't wait to work you on the air with it.  I also had a chance to look at your great website.

Good luck with your Gates.  I have a couple Gates 250C1's that have been restored.
73,
Joe, W3GMS
