Title: 160 Propagation Post by: Bill, KD0HG on October 11, 2012, 07:06:57 PM Good QSO with K5UJ in N. Illinois last night, Good QSO with K4KYV on Tuesday evening.
1,000 miles and 1,500 miles respectively. It appears 160 propagation is very good right now, as long as one is below the auroral oval on an E-W or N-S path. You folks up in W1, W2, W3, and north W0 are gonna have a tough time as long as old Sol is active but other paths, Colorado to W4, W5 and W6 seem to be good. K5UJ in N. Illinois was solid and good last night but the band dropped out on him after maybe 20 minutes. So 160 is 'good' this fall, but QRO is highly recommended on the more northern paths. If there is one..Seems to be a rather sharp delineation between a QSO to the south of the aurora and nada to the all north, a few hundred miles makes all the difference. all due to el Sol. www.spaceweather.com. tnx 4 QSO & report. Sorry about the long xmission--didn't think 160 would behave like 6 hi hi. When I gave 1880 back to you I heard nothing and figured the band had gone kaput on us.
