in a word, laziness.

I was listening to the group on 3885 and there was one station in Lincoln NE but I thought he departed.  All the others were in Wisconsin no more than maybe 150 miles from me and I was pretty sure I'd be able to do okay with them and just 50 watts because the band sounded real good.  No QRN (at first it got worse later on).  So I didn't bother to fire up filaments and just went with the plastic radio.  Well the Nebraska station was still there but he said he could hear me okay, and this was with the cloud burner dipole.  If this is anything to go on, the low bands should be really good this winter as long as we don't have a lot of thunderstorms like last year.

Rob..Wasn't listening on the Beverage, it's been TU since the August lightning strike. Listening on the new TX antenna.

You were the 50W channel master on the Big 85.

Now, get some QRO going, pussy.

Okay Bill QSL  ;)

is 100 w. all QGD ever runs?  Amazing how well he gets out.  I'd like to know what his antenna is.  I was out west in Calif. 2 years ago on business and had a little Grundig Yachtboy receiver with me and one night I walked outside and got away from buildings and noise and listened on 75 m. and heard QGD Bill--he was strapping in out there.
