how does the mute, or standby in the bc348 work?...i'd like to wire it in to my t/r circuit...

I don't have the schematic in front of me but the muting method is to open the screen B+ feed at the power connector.  Conversions may have screwed this up so you may have to trace it out.  Then also use a T/R switch at the antenna input unless you are using separate antennas.

Mine didn't have the original power connector, but looking at the schematic:

Pins 2 and 6 of the power connector are shorted, normally with a relay.  This applies SG voltage to 2nd RF amp and 1st and 2nd IF amps.

Mine is a 348Q.  the J, N, and Q are about the same; covered in the same manual.  I have the manual in .pdf if you need it.  7.48 MB.
