Title: Testing an EF50
Post by: KF9CM on August 19, 2012, 12:18:42 PM
I have several EF50s i need to test. I have a Hickok 539B tube tester but it doesn't cover that tube. Is there any way I can make an adapter, say a 9 pin Novar to a 9 pin EF50 socket and setup the dial parameters on the 539B to test that tube?

EF-50 is also known as a VT-250. Making an adapter widget is probably not that difficult. Figuring out how to set up the parameters without a reference base would be difficult.

Have a nose at the data that is used on the Avo valve testers - this might give you half a chance - several scans are available on line.

Normally though I would say why bother, there are thousands of the things laying around (then realised this might not be the case in the US!)

If you want some NOS ones I can help you (Just cover the shipping), but they will not be nice shiny red ones - they are more likely to be Silver bulk packed military.

You might get more help by searching under the type numbers CV1091, and VR91 - these are all UK type part numbers for the venerable old EF50
