Title: Rest in peace Jon Lord and Donald "Duck" Dunn
Post by: KC2TAU on July 16, 2012, 07:57:20 PM

I'm going to miss these fellows. What a wonderful knowledge of the organ Jon possessed. It especially pains me because he seemed so upbeat about his illness being only a temporary setback.

So many people know Dunn from his appearance in the Blues Brother movie but I bet they wouldn't believe how many records he had played on. One of the great representatives of the Fender Precision. He passed after performing his fifth double show (at age 70!).

I like organ music, and most all music.
RIP fine musicians, and wonderful singer Kitty.

Two greats in my time of music, Jon and Duck. Duck was a howl with the Blues Brothers playing base while chugging on that pipe. I never had an ear for the Hammond organ until Jon cut loose with Purple. I loved the Animals but didn't really pick up on Price playing the Hammond like I did with Jon....I'm feeling a little bit older today..yuck
