Title: ZRF
Post by: W2JTD on May 14, 2012, 10:03:01 PM
Dave, ZRF popped into my head again today! Just can't plan the antenna system here without his input! Wish I'd paid more attention to the lessons. Goddammit. (Lesson: When in the presence of greatness, PAY ATTENTION!)

Paul,
I know what you mean.  We somehow get complacent in thinking their will be a tomorrow.....who ever said we will have a tomorrow.  Either we crap out or our friends crap out.

One thankful thing for me is that I listened to my mentor Harry, 3FDY (SK) with great concentration.  When your 14 years old one tends to absorb thinks like a sponge......

Agreed! ! ! ! ! ! ! !  You definately become complacent with the thought that they will always be there, and poof they're gone. I have been through this many times with many friends.

Unfortunately even despite the fact that I have left twice and came back, I have lived to bury to many of my friends. Thinking about some of the ones that I miss so dearly usually brings on a melancholy mood, and much sadness.

I have been told by others that this is just simply one of the by-products of getting older. But........that doesn't make it suck any less! Treasure them while they're here, and remember them when they're gone. That is all you can do!
They will never really be "gone" as long as you (or others) remember them!

I lost a good friend yesterday. My daughter got married at Edisto beach Saturday and we had a pig roast Thursday night. He helped us cook the pig all day Thursday and wasn't feeling well. He had called his doctor and was advised that it was likely his gall bladder and was supposed to go in today. He dropped dead in his den Monday afternoon.

You never know when it will end.
