I picked this Triplett 1696 up off of epay, looks to be in great condition but I'm striking out on looking for info on the internet.

Anyone have any info on it?

I've got a Triplett 1696A.   The front panel is motheaten but inside is in good shape.

I've have had it for a couple years but have been unable to locate any manual or schematic.   The Library of Congress register of pamphlets shows the Operator Manual for the 1696A was copyrighted in 1940.  

The successor to both of these is the 2696 (I recall).  I have seen an advertisement from 1948.  That modulation monitor is much more common.

**Looking at your photos, it is obvious mine has been modified by the addition of the SO-239 for input and a modern 1/4inch phone jack for audio.  From general inspection I did not note any internal mods but will take another look.  The power wiring on mine showed it had been in a fixed installation for a long time.

Here is another Triplett:  Model 3296.  I think this one is a newer version  (circa 1947).  Picked it up at Fair Radio several years ago.

Didn't find it on the English site but there is a lot of other interesting stuff there.   I have found a manual of the 3296 which is attached in case anyone else is interested.   

Fortunately these critters aren't too complicated so I guess I can draw one from observation.
