Title: HRO-7 Project
Post by: W5AMI on April 14, 2012, 10:52:42 PM
Got an HRO-7 w/power supply, matching speaker and HRO-60 at a recent hamfest.  Started restoration on the 7 first.

Here is a photo of the chassis after cleaning good:

More photos from beginning here:

Got a ways to go yet...  Will post more as I go.

I will be especially interested in your HRO-60 restoration as I have one of those to do.  I have never done any restorations yet so I try to absorb as much as I can.  I enjoy your photos but would love to read a ridiculously detailed narrative to go along with your photos.  Heck, I also have an SX-28 so I also vote for you going back and adding another ridiculously detailed narrative for that.  :-)

Thanks Jim, and yes, I need to write up some narrative on these.

Well, I've finished the HRO-7T for the most part.  There are a few particulars I need to do, such as checking or doing a realignment.  It's playing now as I type listening to some AM'ers on 75 meters.  It's been recapped and most resistors checked and/or replaced.  Someone had messed with this one a bit, and I had some tracing to do to figure out out to put it back like it should be.

Here is the link to my photo gallery of the HRO-7 restoration.

Also, some before and after photos....

Oh, and by the way; if it had not for been for Jim/W5JO, I would have probably been lost with this HRO.  Thanks Jim, good ideas and great advice for me!
