Title: 40 Post by: K5IIA on April 10, 2012, 08:18:51 PM 7.285 last night had a nice round table with mike wn3b, and mike kd8cvy. also talked to k0ara for a short time. then robert w0vmc jumped in and helped me figure out a hum that i had that wn3b had brought up. ended up being a problem with my vfo.
then this evening jeff w2nbc answered brands ws4b cq and i joined in with them. really nice 45 min or so round table. really nice signals on 40m and a nice lack of broadcast stations. the band was still in great shape when i signed off at 10:30pm central time. hope to hear some more stations 73 Title: Re: 40 Post by: W2VW on April 10, 2012, 08:56:43 PM WS4B

Title: Re: 40 Post by: WS4B on April 10, 2012, 10:14:31 PM It appears for whatever reason that Radio China International now goes QRT at 23:00 GMT on 7285. That now leaves an open area for us AMers to take advantage of this free space between 7280 to 7290 for a few hours. Ill be there frequently around that time here in Florida hoping to initiate 40 meter evening AM activity. I'm in a coffin corner here geographically, but hopefully as word spreads 7285 can simulate activity similar to 3885 this spring.
Title: Re: 40 Post by: VE3LYX on April 11, 2012, 07:33:16 AM I read the mail but my rock wouldnt wiggle down to --85. Anytime you are in at -90 though I will give it a shot. I have started making a VFO Might take awhile though.
I also have a QRP rig. I tried it out yesterday afternoon. Could hear them say someone is tuning up near frequency but I guess it wasnt strong enuf. I did a modulator mod to it yesteday and modulation is now stronger and clearer. I will try it though if I hear anyone one when I am in the downstairs shack. Who knows. Sometimes it works if conditions are good. So if you hear a p-s-w-k signal tis not just someone trying to QRM . Tis probably me. 12SL7 osc /modulator driving a 50L6 screen modulated powered by a carbon mic electro/mech circuit. (Like telephones used to use) This AM has rejeuvenated my interest in the hobby. Thanks to those who are keeping it alive. Brad, you had plenty of signal here in NJ but i have a nasty TV noise right on 7285. I can even hear the scene changes. Using pretty much the same antenna configuration from back in the 40 evening AM coast to coast action. No more BC-610 to BC-610 activity anymore though. N8xpk K5uj *biggest signal award*! W0vmc Aa9aa K9act Ve6pg W1vd Kb1lfs K0eoo Ke3sx Kb1nfs wf0n was a little late but he made it to. All within a 2 hour window and I think I missed a few. 7.290 was the general flavor tonight.
