Indeed, great idea, Pedro!  There are any number of radios that use similar arrangements with the power switch on the mode switch, etc., that could benefit from this idea.

Thanks for sharing the idea Pedro!  Those switches are a high failure rate item.

I have salvaged a few by using the switch contacts to switch a small relay which then controls primary power, unless they are completely burnt they will still suffice to carry coil current.  But sometimes they are completely dead and your method is perfect for putting those radios back into service.

Good idea, Pedro. BTW, better get rid of those black beauties while you're in there.
