Title: Excellent source for tube audio information
Post by: John K5PRO on February 19, 2012, 01:24:00 PM
This has been posted here in the past, but a reminder for newcomers or those with memory fade:
Pete Millett's excellent website
http://www.tubebooks.org

It has scans of many tube and component manuals/catalogs from the top manufacturers and also has complete scans of many textbooks on audio and Rf using vacuum tubes (a little on transistors too).
http://www.tubebooks.org/technical_books_online.htm

Sometimes we have a question like "how do i select a swinging choke?".
Norman Crowhurst/George Coopers 1957 High-Fidelity Circuit Design spells it out very thoroughly. It dispels myths about cathode follower circuits.
There is a dandy 100 Watt quad-EL34 amplifier design in the PA chapter.

Another classic which I read and read again is Inside the Vacuum Tube, by John Rider, 1945.  A good technical library would be hard-pressed to have all of this information in print, and here it can be had for the cost of internet download time. Wonderful stuff is out there!

Could you identify the link to this article?  I can't seem to find it??

Thanks Terry

I enjoyed the section on phase inverters.  The book is written in rare form with very geeky knowledge, circuit design experience and analysis by the authors, but yet has very down to earth style of prose, advice and rationalizations.

Thanks for pointing it out to us John.
